Grotto Falls

Grotto Falls is one of the most unique waterfalls and photo opportunities in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, as it's a walk behind waterfall!

The hike to Grotto Falls is a little over 2.5 miles and takes about three hours to reach the falls through the beautiful scenic landscape. While hiking to Grotto Falls, you will cross four small streams without bridges. The trail winds through a beautiful old-growth forest, which includes many large eastern hemlocks.

Grotto Falls can also be reached during Winter by hiking from the Rainbow Falls Trailhead, located just off of Cherokee Orchard Loop Road, though this will add another 3.5 miles to your hike.
